Introduction
Dr. Leyi Zhang has more than 30 years of extensive clinical and teaching experience in rehabilitation medicine. She excels in comprehensive assessment of functional impairments resulting from various injuries, post-operative conditions, and acute or chronic diseases. With therapeutic efficacy as her primary goal, she designs and implements individualized rehabilitation programs. Dr. Zhang is particularly renowned for her expertise in managing complex cases such as post-stroke hemiplegia, premature infants, developmental delays, and cerebral palsy, providing holistic rehabilitation services.
As the founder of "Yile Rehabilitation", Dr. Zhang leads a team of therapists with international educational backgrounds, dedicated to delivering world-class, compassionate, and efficient rehabilitation care that meets global standards without patients needing to travel abroad.
Dr. Zhang holds the position of Chief Physician in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. She graduated from Shanghai Medical University (now Fudan University Shanghai Medical College) and possesses rehabilitation physician qualifications certified by the World Health Organization (WHO). She served for over two decades at Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital. Later, she established the first rehabilitation program in Shanghai's higher education system at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where she held roles as Associate Professor and Director of the Rehabilitation Teaching and Research Section. Subsequently, she played a pivotal role in founding Shanghai Sunshine Rehabilitation Center (Shanghai Yangzhi Rehabilitation Hospital), serving as Chief Physician and Vice President of Medical Affairs. She also led the development of the Rehabilitation Medicine Department at Shanghai International Medical Center, acting as Chief Rehabilitation Physician and Department Director.
Dr. Zhang has contributed significantly to national rehabilitation continuing education initiatives organized by the Chinese Rehabilitation Medical Association and the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation. She serves as a Rehabilitation Medicine Consultant and Course Instructor at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Rehabilitation under the Hong Kong Rehabilitation Association. Academically, she has co-authored several authoritative texts and university textbooks, including "Practical Rehabilitation Medicine", "Rehabilitation Functional Assessment", and "Rehabilitation Nursing". Her recent publication as chief editor is the "Home Training Guide for Premature Infants".
