Otolaryngology

Our ENT Physicians care for the following:

  • Ears - Medical and surgical treatment of hearing disorders, ear infections, balance disorders, ear noise (tinnitus), nerve pain, and facial and cranial nerve disorders. 

  • Nose - Care of the nasal cavity and sinuses is available, including allergies and a person's sense of smell, as well as the appearance of the nose and a person's ability to breathing through the nose. 

  • Throat – Treatment of diseases of the larynx (voice box) and the upper aero-digestive tract or esophagus, including voice and swallowing disorders. 

  • Head and Neck – Surgery and treatment of infectious diseases in the head and neck area. Some diseases include both benign and malignant (cancerous) tumors, facial trauma, thyroid disorders and deformities of the face.

Our comprehensive solutions also extend to the treatment of young children who may suffer from pediatric ENT conditions.

Dr. Tony Choi has over 20 years of clinical experience in otolaryngology, with expertise in diagnosing and treating various ENT conditions, including nasal, ear, and throat diseases. He is particularly skilled in the comprehensive management of allergic rhinitis and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in both adults and children. Additionally, Dr. Tony Choi is proficient in conducting a range of otolaryngological examinations and procedures, such as auditory function testing, endoscopic examinations of the ear, nose, and throat, canalith repositioning maneuvers, and vestibular rehabilitation training.

Dr. Tony Choi earned his Master’s degree in Otolaryngology from the College of Medicine, Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea. He has worked for many years in both public and high-end private hospitals, accumulating extensive experience in clinical teaching and mentorship.

Otolaryngologist

Dr. Xiaoyan Li is a Chief Physician, Doctor of Medicine, and Professor with over 30 years of clinical experience in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Li specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of adenotonsillar hypertrophy, acute and chronic rhinitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. She has extensive experience in surgical treatment of laryngotracheal stenosis, congenital laryngeal anomalies (such as laryngeal webs and clefts), and laryngomalacia. Additionally, she has achieved remarkable success in the surgical treatment of branchial cleft cysts, pyriform sinus fistulas, thyroglossal duct cysts, and neck vascular malformations (such as lymphangiomas). Dr. Li is also at the forefront in the fields of pediatric airway obstruction, pediatric maxillofacial deformity correction, head and neck surgery, and cochlear implantation in China.

Dr. Li is the head of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Chief Clinical Expert at Shanghai Children's Hospital. She is one of the main formulators of the "Chinese Guidelines for Plasma Surgery in Pediatric Tonsil and Adenoid Treatment". She also serves as the Deputy Director of the Pediatric Group of the Chinese Medical Association's Otolaryngology Branch, Deputy Director of the Pediatric Committee of the Chinese Sleep Research Society, Deputy Director of the Pediatric Allergy Committee of the Chinese Health Promotion Association, Deputy Director of the Pediatric Committee of the Chinese Women and Children's Minimally Invasive Society, and a member of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association Otolaryngology Committee.

Dr. Michaela Baum is a foreign-trained otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat doctor) with more than 30 years working experience. She is familiar with all types of ear, nose and throat disorders and she also treats sleep apnea and vertigo. She has a special interest in allergies of the upper respiratory tract and pediatric otolaryngology and sees children of any age. Dr. Baum is a member of the German Board of Otolaryngology and she previously worked in Germany in her private office in Baden-Baden and as Associate Medical Director in the ENT Hospital Pforzheim and Witten /Herdecke/Hagen.

Dr. Hui Liao graduated from the seven-year clinical medicine program at the Wuhan University Medical School. He is specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of nasal diseases such as allergic rhinitis, chronic rhinitis sinusitis, nasal polyp and minimally invasive surgery with functional nasal endoscope; diagnosis and treatment of snoring (sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome) and sleep disorders related diseases in children and adults; minimally invasive surgery for adenoid hypertrophy and tonsil hypertrophy; tympanic membrane incision and catheterization under the ear endoscope; diagnosis and treatment of throat diseases under microelectronic laryngoscope; microsurgical treatment of vocal cord polyp and laryngeal tumor; diagnosis and treatment of vertigo; diagnosis and treatment of common and frequently occurring diseases in ear; nose, throat, head and neck surgery.

Otolaryngologist

Dr. Fei Tan has been engaged in clinical practice in otolaryngologyfor nearly twenty years. His areas of expertise include conservative surgical management of pediatric conditions, such as tonsillar and adenoidal hypertrophy, snoring and sleep-disordered breathing, and ankyloglossia; endoscopic surgery for nasal disorders, including sinusitis, nasal polyps, deviated nasal septum, and chronic dacryocystitis; microsurgical management of otologic diseases, including otitis media, tympanic membrane perforation, cholesteatoma, and implantable auditory prosthetic devices.

Dr. Tan is a Lifetime Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He completed ten years of structured surgical training in the United Kingdom under the Royal College of Surgeons system. He has long been involved in clinical practice and basic research in otolaryngology, as well as interdisciplinary research spanning biomaterials, biotechnology, and biomedical engineering, and has served as principal investigator for multiple national- and provincial-level research projects. As first or corresponding author, Dr. Tan has published more than thirty articles in SCI-indexed journals, including Cell and Nature, with individual publications achieving impact factors approaching 40.

Dr. Lina Wang is an attending doctor with nearly 10 years of working experience. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose and throat disorders and illnesses. Dr. Wang has experience in performing the procedures in child’s snoring, chronic tonsillitis, deviated septum, sinusitis, vocal cord masses, etc. She obtained her Master’s degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (China).

Dr. Jiadong Wang is an experienced head & neck surgeon with over 37 years clinical experience. Dr. Wang specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of head & neck tumors including thyroid tumors, parathyroid tumors, laryngopharyngeal tumors, salivary gland tumors, other neck neural and vascular tumors, etc.  Dr. Wang graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine (China) and completed further training in Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery at Pellegrin Hospital, Université Bordeaux Segalen (France). Dr. Wang is the Chief Physician and Professor of the Department of Head & Neck Surgery at Shanghai Renji Hospital (China).

Dr. Zhang has experience in the treatment of itchy ear canal and mycotic otitis externa.
