Introduction
John Chen has 15 years of extensive clinical experience. His areas of expertise include: pre- and postoperative rehabilitation assessment and therapy for orthopedic surgeries, including ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, rotator cuff repair, shoulder capsular repair/reconstruction, Achilles tendon repair/reconstruction, discectomy, and fracture internal fixation; Rehabilitation for sports-specific injuries across various disciplines such as marathon running, swimming, tennis, badminton, fitness training, and golf—covering conditions such as iliotibial band syndrome, shoulder impingement, osteochondritis dissecans, pes anserine bursitis, medial epicondylitis, and more; Management of long-term chronic pain, such as lumbar disc herniation, frozen shoulder, recurrent knee pain, and TFCC injuries; Treatment of adolescent spinal and postural conditions, including scoliosis, poor posture, kyphosis, uneven shoulders, and O-shaped and X-shaped legs.John Chen is a nationally registered Intermediate Physical Therapist. He received his master’s degree from Beijing Capital University of Physical Education and completed advanced training at the Sports Medicine Department of Peking University Third Hospital. In 2015, he served as a rehabilitation therapist for the Organizing Committee of the World Athletics Championships. From 2016 to 2017, he was assigned to the China National Swimming Team as a strength and rehabilitation coach, preparing athletes for the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest and the 13th National Games of China. During this period, he was responsible for sports injury management and performance enhancement, providing physical therapy for elite athletes. John Chen also holds multiple international and professional certifications, including AOPT (American Academy of Orthopedic Physical Therapy), Functional Movement Screen (FMS), and Mulligan Dynamic Joint Mobilization. He previously served as the physical therapy team leader in the Rehabilitation Medicine Department of a private medical institution in Shanghai. He is currently a Committee Member of the Rehabilitation Medicine Branch of the Shanghai Association of Social Medical Institutions and provides rehabilitation consulting services for organizations including FWD China, Wellington College International, and CPA Australia.
