Currently serves as the Executive Deputy Director of the National Orthopedic Medical Center, Leader of Joint Surgery Department, Director of the National Orthopedic Medical Center Joint Surgery Robot Clinical Application Training Center, and Chairman of the National Orthopedic Medical Center Joint Surgery Robot Clinical Application Alliance.

Recipient of the 9th Shanghai Health System "Silver Snake Award" and "Advanced Worker" title, Innovation Pioneer Award for Shanghai medical staff, Outstanding Doctoral Supervisor Evaluation of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, President's Award of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Baosteel Education Award of Shanghai, the 5th "Outstanding Contribution People’s Famous Doctor" title, and named among the world's top 2% scientists in 2023. He has led 2 National Key Research and Development Projects, 4 National Natural Science Foundation General Projects, and 1 Ministry of Health Public Welfare Industry Research Fund. He has published more than 190 papers in domestic and international important journals, including over 130 SCI papers. He has edited 8 domestic monographs and translated 3. He has obtained 9 utility model and invention patents. He has hosted and participated in more than 20 national and provincial-level research projects. His research achievements have successively won the First Prize of Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress in Chinese Universities, Second Prize of Shanghai Clinical Achievement Award, Second Prize of Ministry of Education Technology Advancement Promotion Award, Third Prize of Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, First Prize of Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, and First Prize of Shanghai Natural Science Award.

Clinical Expertise:

• Proficient in robot-assisted joint replacement (hip, knee, unicompartmental); first expert in China to perform robotic hip, knee, and unicompartmental knee arthroplasty.

• Proficient in minimally invasive hip and knee joint replacement and hip surface replacement through small incisions.

• Proficient in complex primary hip replacements, such as ankylosed hip, post-infectious hip sequelae, post-acetabular fracture, and congenital hip dysplasia (high dislocation).

• Proficient in complex primary knee replacements, such as severe varus/valgus deformity, flexion contracture deformity, ankylosed knee, Charcot joint, rheumatoid arthritis, and other diseases causing severe joint deformity, total knee replacement for patients with high BMI obesity.

• Proficient in revision surgery of artificial hip/knee, such as periprosthetic fractures, aseptic loosening due to bone dissolution, especially periprosthetic joint infection.

Dr. Samson Cho has 20 years of clinical experience, specialized in sports injuries and arthroscopic surgeries. He emphasizes the importance of tailor-made treatment plan according to the individual's sports, working, daily activities and time schedule, starting from conservative approach until the real necessity to surgery. He is experienced in conservative treatment such as prolotherapy, rehab strategy and arthroscopic surgeries for shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle joints. He is leading a team of multi-specialties including surgeons, physiotherapists, chiropractors, etc. to provide comprehensive customized medical service to all individuals’ needs.

Administrative Deputy Director of Orthopedics Sports Medicine

Dr. David Jiang has an MD degree from the Shanghai Jiao Tong University school of Medicine in China, long term served in Orthopedic department of Ruijin Hospital as resident, attending doctor and associated professor. He completed further training at the Fuji Toranomon Orthopedic Hospital in Japan, and has been a visiting scholar at upstate medical university of New York. Dr. Jiang has over 25 years of clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of bone, joint, and muscular problems, sports injury etc., including arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, ankle injury such as cross ligament reconstruction, meniscectomy & repairing, rotator cuff repairing and cartilage injury of joints; four limb’s fracture with open reduction & implant fixation. Meanwhile he also has extensive experience with ankle and hand disorders, such as ankle ligament reconstruction, Hallux valgus deformity correction, Achilles tendonopathy, carpal tunnel syndrome treatment with operation etc. In addition, Dr. Jiang specializes in joint and spine pain management, using lumbar epidural injection, spinal facet joint injection. He serves as a lecturer for national continuing education classes of Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Medicine.
